In the opening day in Berlin, Northwave’s athletes finished second in the Team Pursuit behind France
First medals in the opening day of Track European Championships in Berlin: on Thursday October 19th, Italy’s Filippo Ganna, Simone Consonni, Francesco Lamon and Liam Bertazzo claimed a superb silver medal in the Team Pursuit.
After a brilliant qualification round, the Italian quartet eliminated Russia in the semifinals, gaining the opportunity to contest for the title against France. As usually, the Italian team started slowly but performed a remarkable progression up to 3:55.986 overall timing, 2 tenths of seconds behind the French team. Russia got the bronze medal ahead of Germany.
After the World bronze conquered in Honk Kong last April, the Italian quartet consolidated its reputation in Berlin, always with the Northwave “green line” – Ganna, Consonni, Lamon – in the spotlights.
