Gold for Linde and Northwave at European MTB Champs’ XCE

The Swedish cyclist claimed a strong photofinish win in the Mens Eliminator race. Anne Terpstra took silver in the Women’s category.

Emil Linde gave Northwave the second gold medal of the 2016 European Mountain Bike Championships, in Huskvarna, Sweden. On Friday May 6th, the 22-year-old Swede conquered the most important success of his career in the Cross-Country Eliminator race, outsprinting the main favorite, Austrian Daniel Federspiel, while Martin Setterberg’s bronze medal completed a great day for the local athletes.

Equipped with Extreme XC shoes, Linde had immediate confidence on the 670 meter route. He raced through the woods of the Huskvarna Lake with a short ascent near the finish line, breezed through the qualifications until the final round, where he preceded Federspiel after a tight head-to-head chellenge.

Northwave took another win in the Women’s race thanks to Anne Terpstra’s excellent performance. The Dutch rider took the silver medal behind Ukrainian Iryna Popova. Third place for Italian Anna Oberparleiter.
