Team Jumbo-Visma’s Dylan Groenewegen scored his second seasonal win, dominating the bunch sprint of Volta ao Algarve em Bicicleta’s stage-4, 198,3 km from Albufeira to Tavira (Portugal) on Saturday, February 23rd. Groenewegen rode to success in 4:56:07, outsprinting Arnaud Démare and Jasper Philipsen. Groenewegen had inaugurated the 2019 season topping Volta a la Comunitat Valenciana’s fifth and final stage.
VUELTA A ANDALUCIA, KRUIJSWIJK 3rd IN GRANADA
On the same day, Team Jumbo Visma’s Steven Kruijswijk placed third in Vuelta a Andalucia Ruta Ciclista del Sol’s stage-4, 119,9 km from Armilla to Granada (Spain). Kruijswijk got to the finish in the first chasing group, along with the top GC contenders, with a 26-second gap from winner Simon Yates. Kruijswijk moved up from fourth to third in the GC, 11 seconds behind Jakob Fuglsang and 4 seconds behind Ion Izagirre.
