Dylan Groenewegen (Team Jumbo-Visma) rode Oltre XR4 to a resounding sprint win and took the leader’s jersey in the opener of the Paris-Nice World Tour stage-race, 138,5 km with start and finish in Saint-Germain-en-Laye (France) on Sunday, March 10th. The 25-year-old rider from Amsterdam stood out in the contention among some of the top sprinters in the World, finishing in 3:17:35 ahead of Caleb Ewan and Fabio Jakobsen.
Groenewegen will take in Paris-Nice’s stage-2, 163,5 km from Les Bréviaires to Bellegarde, wearing the GC leader’s jersey. Ewan is second with a 4-second gap, one less than Leon Sanchez and Kwiatkowski.
It was Groenewegen’s third success in 2019, after those in Volta a la Comunitat Valenciana’s finish stage and Volta ao Algarve em Bicicleta’s stage 4.
