Team LottoNL-Jumbo’s Dutchman rode his Oltre XR.2 to victory ahead of Ewan and Arndt in Settle.
Dylan Groenewegen perfectly celebrated his comeback to racing, riding to the top spot in Tour de Yorkshire’s opening stage, 184 km from Beverley to Settle (UK) on Friday, April 29th. The rider from Amsterdam won the bunch sprint ahead of Caleb Ewan and Nikias Arndt, winning the leader’s jersey.
Previously in 2016 Groenewegen had topped the Volta a la Comunitat Valenciana’s stage-3 in Alzira (Spain) and the Driedaagse van West-Vlaanderen’s stage-1 in Harelbeke (Belgium). The 22-year-old Dutchman stepped on the podium as runner-up in Volta a la Comunitat Valenciana’s final stage and was third at Handzame Classic, Nokere Koerse-Danilith Classic and Energiewacht Ronde van Drenthe.
