UAE Team Emirates’ 30-year-old European Champion clinched his first seasonal success with Extreme RR in Tour of Oman’s final stage.
Alexander Kristoff conquered the first seasonal win in Tour of Oman’s sixth and final stage (Al Mouj Muscat – Matrah Corniche 135,5 Km). It was also the very first win of the European Champion as a Northwave rider.
On Sunday February 18th, the 30-year-old Norwegian took advantage to outsprint Bryan Coquard and Giacomo Nizzolo.
The third win in a row Kristoff achieved in the Matrah Corniche was the result of an outstanding team performance: the UAE Team Emirates guided the chase at the escapees andled up the captain on the final straight. This result represents a real confidence-booster for the European Champion in view of the monument classics: Milano-Sanremo, Ronde Van Vlaanderen and Paris-Roubaix are the first goals of Kristoff’s season. In the second part of the year, the Team UAE Emirates athlete will face the Tour de France, before going for defending his European title in Glasgow (Scotland).
