Team LottoNL-Jumbo’s Maglia Rosa is runner-up with Oltre XR.2 behind Valverde in Andalo.
Another emphatic performance to tighten his hold on the Maglia Rosa: Steven Kruijswijk rode his Oltre XR.2 to second in Giro d’Italia stage 16, after the 132 km from Bressanone to Andalo (Northern Italy) extending his overall lead on Tuesday, May 24th. Alejandro Valverde clinched the stage win and stepped on the provisional GC podium, while Ilnur Zakarin was third.
Kruijswijk looked comfortable in controlling his rivals’ attacks on the Mendola Pass, getting clear along with Valverde and Zakarin on the way up to Fai della Paganella. Team Lotto NL-Jumbo’s Dutchman re-affirmed his excellent shape with Bianchi bikes, both Specialissima and Oltre XR.2. Kruijswijk’s brought his advantage on Esteban Chaves to 3 minutes in the GC. Valverde’s gap is 3:23, Nibali’s 4:43.
Oltre XR.2 is the choice of Team LottoNL-Jumbo’s riders when it comes to pure performance in extreme racing conditions. This bike is designed applying the best carbon fiber technologies and is optimized to achieve the most efficient power transmissiom with highest rigidity to weight ratio. Performance is triple and Oltre XR.2 is light, aerodynamic and stiff. Frame profiles are conceived and tested in the wind tunnel to minimize the aero drag. Tapered head tube, massive down tube and oversize BB area are responsible for fast accelerations. Bianchi’s unique Racing geometry then guarantees the optimal bike fitting allowing the maximum efficiency in terms of power output with a super nimble attitude on turns and descents.
At 780gr, Bianchi’s Specialissima frame changed the game in the ultralight frame category thanks to the special tuning process of MSC’s patented Countervail® integrated vibration cancelling system for cycling, developed for NASA by Materials Sciences Corporation. The new Bianchi’s Countervail® ultralight carbon formula is specifically tuned to smooth out the inherent nervousness of ultralight frames. Excellent traction and stability at high speeds makes Bianchi’s Specialissima ideal tackling different types of surfaces during fast accelerations and super high-speed corners when maximum power and control are essential.
