Kruijswijk Strengthens Lead

The Dutchman finished 16 hundredths of seconds behind Foliforov:
now Chaves’ gap is 2:12, Nibali’s 2:51

The 99th Giro d’Italia uphill ITT stage 15, 10,9 km from Castelrotto to Alpe di Siusi (Northern Italy) on Sunday, May 22nd re-affirmed Dutch Steven Kruijswijk among the main protagonists of the race. Team LottoNL-Jumbo’s rider in pink delivered a strong performance on his exclusive black Specialissima with celeste inserts and pink handlebar tapes, placing second by 16 hundredths of second behind Russian Alexander Foliforov. Both clocked 28:39, 23 seconds faster than Alejandro Valverde, 40 than Esteban Chaves, 47 than Ilnur Zakarin and 2:10 than Vincenzo Nibali.

The impressive result achieved on the Alpe di Siusi allowed Kruijswijk to strengthen his GC lead, with a 2:12 advantage on Chaves and 2:51 on Nibali.
