Lampre and Wanty Ride the Ronde van Vlaanderen

Two teams and 19 athletes equipped by Northwave at the start of the Belgian Monument

Two Teams supported by Northwave, Lampre-Merida and Wanty-Groupe Gobert, and a total of 19 riders wearing Extreme shoes are set to line up for the 100th edition of the Ronde van Vlaanderen (Sunday April 3rd), the second Monument classic of the year. The Belgian one-day race will be run on a 255,9 Km route from Bruges to Oudenaarde, with no less than 18 “muur” on cobbles in between.

Italian World Tour team Lampre-Merida will field Italy’s Sacha Modolo, Davide Cimolai, Roberto Ferrari and Federico Zurlo, Chinese Xu Gang, Taiwan’s Kai Feng, Slovenia’s Marko Kump and Luka Pibernik, whilst Wanty-Groupe Gobert team, recently affected by the tragic death of Antoine Demoitie at Gand-Wevelgem, selected Belgium’s Frederik Backaert, Jerome Baugnies, Dimitri Claeys, Kevin Van Milsen, Tom Devrient and Kenny Dehaes, Italian Marco Marcato and German Bjorne Thurau.

Three more Northwave riders will also be part of the peloton getting off in Bruges: Swiss Reto Hollenstein (IAM Cycling) and two Cannondale’s athletes, New Zealand’s Jack Bauer and Dane Matti Breschel.

Extreme shoes represent the new top-range road model by Northwave. Characterized by a reflective silver look, Extreme adds to an unmistakable appearance an unprecedented visibility even in low-light situations. The evolution of the Extreme Tech Plus shoes ensures the best power transmission with its unidirectional carbon sole, compatible with the special NW-Speedplay adaptor, leading to the lowest stack height between foot and pedal.

The upper, designed with Northwave Biomap technology to make it compatible to every foot’s shape, is realized with a special light microfiber. The integrated heel with interior directional fiber material provides perfect stability while pushing on pedals, keeping the foot in position with no slippings, while Northwave added a further power strap to the double SLW2 rotor, in order to guarantee a more adherent and precise fit even for those with slimmer feet.
