Modolo, Ulissi and Navardauskas head Team Lampre-Merida at Milan San Remo
The 107th Milano – Sanremo, will start from Milan’s Castello Sforzesco on Saturday March 19th, with a whole team sponsored by Northwave, Lampre-Merida, and overall 16 athletes dreaming a successful finish in Sanremo on Via Roma’s iconic setting, after 291 Km.
The “Classicissima” is one of the most important events of the season for Team Lampre-Merida. The Italian World Tour team, entirely equipped with Northwave Extreme shoes, will line up at the start with two leaders, Sacha Modolo and Diego Ulissi. Others in the team will be fast-man Davide Cimolai – eighth in Sanremo in 2015 – and the 2013 World Champion, Portoguese Alberto Rui Costa. Rounding out the line-up led by Brent Copeland will be Matteo Bono, Manuele Mori, Marko Kump and Luka Pibernik.
NAVARDAUSKAS AND BRESCHEL: CANNONDALE’S DUO SHARES BIG DREAMS
Should the race prove more selective than expected, Cannondale Pro Cycling Team can boast a strong duo formed by Lithianian Ramunas Navardauskas, bronze medal in the road race at the Worlds in Richmond, and Matti Breschel, bronze medal at 2008 Varese Worlds and silver in Melbourne’s 2010 edition. Both could play a prominent role in case of a reduced sprint.
Completing the Northwave’s patrol at Milano-Sanremo will be six more riders: Gediminas Bagdonas (AG2R – La Mondiale), Mirko Selvaggi (Androni-Sidermec), Fabio Sabatini (Etixx-Quick Step), Leigh Howard (Orica GreenEDGE), Andrea Peron and Martijn Verschoor (Team Novo Nordisk).

Extreme shoes represent the new top-range road model by Northwave. Characterized by a reflective silver look, Extreme adds to an unmistakable appearance an unprecedented visibility even in low-light situations. The evolution of the Extreme Tech Plus shoes, Extreme ensures the best power transmission with its unidirectional carbon sole, compatible with the special NW-Speedplay adaptor, leading to the lowest stack height between foot and pedal.
The upper, designed with Northwave Biomap technology to make it compatible to every foot’s shape, is realized with a special light microfiber. The integrated heel with interior directional fiber material provides perfect stability while pushing on pedals, keeping the foot in position with no slippings, while Northwave added a further power strap to the double SLW2 rotor, in order to guarantee a more adherent and precise fit even for those with slimmer feet.
