According to an AP article, Lance Armstrong’s charity is seeing record donations in the wake of the doping allegations. The article says that Peter Shankman, vp of public relations at Vocus Inc “He never said he’s guilty, he said he’s sick of fighting.” None of the allegations has been proved. “He becomes a hero in this.”
The same day USADA banned Lance, the Lance Armstrong Foundation saw its donations go from $32,300 the day before to $60,900. The number of donations was almost triple, from 313 the previous day to 937. They say that the previous Saturday saw just 4 people make donations and this past Saturday was 373 people with a total of $22,658.
Corporate sponsors are stil onboard including Trek, Oakley, Nike and the Livestrong Sporting Park will not change its name and will donate $7.5 million to the foundation over 6 years.
