Marco Haller victorious on stage four at the Tour of Norway

Today’s stage four was also the longest one of the race with more than 230km. A first break went early, and Shane Archbold managed to bridge across just a few kilometers later. The six riders in front were able to build a lead of up to three minutes but were caught right after the bunch hit the finishing circuit in Kristiansand. It was a fast and quite technical final and even some riders tried to attack late, BORA – hansgrohe’s Frederik Wandahl and Ide Schelling were in front right on time to lead-out Marco Haller who was untouchable on the home straight today and took a brilliant victory.

“I am so happy, and this is a huge relief! I knew that I got the performance but this spring nothing came together. A huge thank you to my wife for always supporting me. But also to my coach Heli Dollinger, because we made a good plan together after the spring and that clearly pays off now. I had good legs the whole week, but it is unbelievable to be on the top of the podium – I think after seven years – on this level again. Also Frederik and Ide have contributed a lot to this victory and in general I think we all at BORA – hansgrohe are surfing on a wave of success at the moment. This feeling is amazing.” – Marco Haller

“That was impressive from Marco. We already had Shane in the early break and could save some energy in the bunch. The final was quite technical and fast, and we decided to ride for Marco today. Ide controlled the last attacks and today Marco absolutely got his timing right, but also was really strong on the home straight. We are really happy with this win, as our goal was to take a stage here which we achieved now already.” – Rolf Aldag, sports director
