Sven Erik Bystrøm will eventually not line up for the tenth stage of the Giro d’Italia. As a reminder, the Norwegian rider, who tested positive for COVID, received the green lights of the medical teams of the UCI and RCS to continue the race in absence of symptoms and in accordance to the UCI protocol. However, Bystrøm started to develop symptoms on the night of Monday to Tuesday. As a precautionary measure and in order to preserve his health, Sven Erik Bystrøm will return home to rest.
Also, Rein Taaramäe is ill with stomach problems and will not start the tenth stage of the Giro. The Estonian rider tested negative for COVID but his symptoms are too serious to continue this Giro d’Italia.
