Modolo scores Northwave’s fourth win in Turkey

Sprint win for Lampre-Merida’s 28-year-old and his Extreme, supported in style by his teammate Roberto Ferrari

Italian Sacha Modolo and Northwave claimed another stage win at the Tour of Turkey. Lampre-Merida’s 28-year-old sprinter conquered his second personal success in the Turkish stage race, giving the Italian brand a fourth stage win in the 52nd edition.

On Saturday April 30th, the Venetian rider, equipped with Extreme shoes, preceded Manuel Belletti (Southeast-Venezuela) and Marco Zanotti (Parkhotel-Valkenburg CT) to the stage 7 finish line (Fethiye – Marmaris 128,6 Km), after a perfect lead up by his teammate Roberto Ferrari. The stage brought no major changes in the overall led by Portugese José Goncalves (Caja Rural), with only tomorrow’s final stage left to run.

Another Northwave and Lampre-Merida’s rider, Portugese Alberto Rui Costa, finished seventh in Tour de Romandie’s queen stage (Conthey – Villars-s/Ollon 172,7 Km) won by Brit Chris Froome (Team SKY) ahead of Ion Izagirre (Movistar) and Thibaut Pinot (FDJ). The 2013 World Champion occupies the sixth overall place, 1:12 behind leader Nairo Quintana (Movistar).
