Modolo wins stage 17

Lampre-Merida’s athlete with Extreme Tech Plus shoes won the massive sprint in Lugano.

98th Giro d’Italia goes toward the conclusion under Northwave athletes’s label. Italian Sacha Modolo (Lampre-Merida) claimed his second win in the 2015 Giro d’Italia on the stage 17 (Tirano – Lugano 134 Km), outsprinting Giacomo Nizzolo (Trek Factory) and Slovenian Luka Mezgec (Giant – Alpecin) after a massive finale.

So doing, Northwave secured its fourth win at 2015 Giro d’Italia: Modolo’s double stage-win followed those Slovenian Jan Polanc and Italian Diego Ulissi earned in the stage 5 and 7 respectively. The sprinter from Conegliano (Northern Italy) finalized his teammates’ job in the last kilometer, coming up crystal-clear by the wake of Roberto Ferrari and Maximiliano Ariel Richeze.

Modolo actually occupies the second spot in the Points Classification with 142 points, behind winner Nizzolo (159 points), whilst Alberto Contador (Tinkoff-Saxo) maintained the overall leadership.
