After two titles in the individual time trials, BORA – hansgrohe takes three titles in the road races on Sunday with Marcus Burghardt (Ger), Gregor Mühlberger (Aut) and Juraj Sagan (Svk). In Germany and Austria it’s a one and two!
“What a day! I had goosebumps on the last kilometer. We were in control of the race the whole day, the team did a great job. In the end, when we closed on Degenkolb on the last climb, we were in a very good situation. Emanuel attacked immediately and I followed him a little later. After the downhill I was in his wheel and we rode together to the finish. I had to wait many years for this national title, to take it in my home Chemnitz is very special and I feel relieved now.” – Marcus Burghardt
“It was a perfect day for us. We had Lukas in the early break and controlled the race. In the last lap, Patrick set a high pace on the climb and prepared my attack perfectly. After I bridged the gap to the leaders, Lukas went away. When I saw that Gogl was on the limit I bridged again and we rode to the finish together. After I missed out to take the jersey last year, I am really happy now.” – Gregor Mühlberger
“I am very happy and proud. I will ride my first Tour de France next week and can present my special national champion jersey there. This is very special to me and I want to thank everybody in the team BORA – hansgrohe for their support.” – Juraj Sagan
