Saarbrücken, Sunday, August 25th 2024
Mads Pedersen has won the finale of the Lidl Deutschland Tour 2024, ensuring a complete triumph for his team Lidl-Trek. In addition to his second stage win, the Dane also celebrated winning the overall classification. After 182.7 kilometres, Pedersen won in Saarbrücken in the sprint of a small group that had broken away on the last climb, clearly ahead of Danny van Poppel (Red Bull-BORA-hansgrohe) and Luke Lamperti (Soudal Quick-Step). In the overall standings, Van Poppel also moved up to second place behind Pedersen, pushing Tobias Halland Johannessen (Uno-X Mobility) into third place by one second. However, Johannessen can console himself with winning the white jersey for the best young pro. Pedersen’s team-mate Jonathan Milan defended the green jersey for the best sprinter, finishing level on points with the overall winner. And Jørgen Nordhagen (Team Visma | Lease a Bike) was also able to defend his mountain jersey.
