Oscar Pereiro, winner of the 2006 Tour de France, claims to know of soccer players who have doped and are “idolized” by the general public.
Retired cyclist and Tour de France winner, Oscar Pereiro, was handed the yellow jersey after original winner Floyd Landis was disqualified for his doping.
Pereiro played soccer with Segunda Division B after retiring from cycling. He was quoted as knowing of a soccer player to had blood transfusions to improve his performance at games and is still idolized. He also knows of another who used growth hormones and is also a hero.
He was quoted as saying “If we give the same treatment to cyclists as to those in other sports, one is doped to their eyeballs and the other is working in sports.” He also said “It’s not about defending cycling and throwing crap at other sports, but I wish you (the media) would give the same treatment to other sports when you recognize certain things.”
“Every age is regulated by certain rules. At the time Armstrong raced under UCI rules.” ‘The day I’m paid 1 million euros, like many have been paid, I’ll say yes or not [about whether or not I’ve doped].”
