The first Israeli professional cycling team ever has Peter Sagan mentoring the team. Their first race will be the Tour de San Luis in Argentina.
Israeli cyclist Ran Margaliot has wanted to win the Tour de France since he was a child. He raced on Saxo Bank with Contador for a year but then had to spent his time in the Israeli military.
He happened to meet an American Jewish investment funds manager who has helped. There are four Slovaks, five Israelis, two Poles and a Czech rider. They try to mix up roommates so riders from different backgrounds room together.
“This is a great opportunity for us to have the support of such a champion, admits Margaliot. He immediately joined the project and I know he defends the same values as us. We have youth 19 to 24 who can identify through him. I am pleased to offer these young people, and others who come, the keys to success possible through cycling. There are still five years, the people of Israel did not know cycling. Our fans, it was wealthy people of 40 or 50 who was cycling for fun. Today, things are moving forward and I hope Cycling Academy has been the forerunner of future projects. ” – Ran Margaliot
Maybe Peter will teach them a few of his tricks!
