Pierre-Henry Basset wins the final stage and claims overall victory at Tour of Rhodes

XDS Astana Development Team rider Pierre-Henry Basset won the final stage of Tour of Rhodes and achieved the overall victory.

The third and final stage, covering a distance of 155.9 kilometers, was held in Kremasti. Pierre-Henry Basset gained valuable bonus seconds by winning an intermediate sprint before securing victory in the final sprint, which then resulted in his win in the overall classification.

“Today was a hard day of racing, especially with the hot weather. In the final kilometers, I followed a decisive attack. We remained in three and I thought that this time I needed to improve my previous result and get a victory for the team. It was an amazing race for me and the whole team, I am very glad and grateful to everyone who contributed to this success”, — said Pierre-Henry Basset.

“In the final part of the race we had two riders in the leading group, Pierre and David (Zannutta), but David had a mechanical and could not return to the group. I am very glad with the performance of Pierre today, he demonstrated his strength, responding to an attack with 12 kilometers to go, winning an intermediate sprint and winning the final sprint. He fully deserved the overall win”, — added Alexander Shushemoin, Sports Director of XDS Astana Development Team.
