Yaroslav Popovych will not take the start of stage 10 in the Tour de France. Since Sunday Popovych has a fever. As the rest day didn’t bring any relief, the team decided not to let him start in Aurillac. The former Tour de France stage winner will undergo some extra tests today.
In stage five Popovych crashed twice. With a lot of willpower he survived four more stages. The current illness however puts an end to this Tour de France. Earlier this Tour Team RadioShack lost Jani Brajkovic with a collarbone fracture and Chris Horner with a severe concussion and nose fracture. Levi Leipheimer crashed three times and Andreas Klöden is suffering from a lower back hematoma and muscle contracture after the big crash in last Sunday’s stage. Klöden will start today and hopes for improvement the coming days.
