The defending champion is back in the lead. Team Jumbo Visma’s Primoz Roglic topped Tour de Romandie’s stage 1, 168,4 km from Neuchâtel to La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland and took the GC lead on Wednesday, May 1st. Winner of the 2018 edition, Roglic outsprinted a 20-man group, on a stage with five categorized climbs. David Gaudu an Rui Costa had to settle for the lower podium spots.
Runner-up in the prologue 24 hours before, Roglic leads now the general classification, with a 10-second advantage on Costa and 12 seconds on Gaudu, and the Points Classification (75). Team Jumbo Visma’s Steven Kruijswijk is 7th in the GC with a 17-second gap from Roglic.
