Sabine Spitz, rider of Ascendis Health Team together with teammate Robyn de Groot, won the stage in the 2017 edition of the South African MTB stage marathon.
In the stage 5 (Oak Valley – Oak Valley 84 Km), the Spitz – De Groot duo preceded in the final sprint the pair formed by Esther Suss and Jennie Stenerhag, while Ariane Luthi and Adelheld Morath completed the day’s podium.
Now, Spitz and De Groot, also winners of the opening prologue and stage 3 among open women, occupy the second overall place, 12’39” behind leaders Suss and Stenerhag.
