The Brit rider gave an encore in Ritten/Renon (Südtirol/Alto Adige) in the second stage of the Tour of the Alps consolidating his overall lead. A Bahrain-Victorious’ duo rounded out the day’s top-3: second Haig, third Buitrago
Winning helps to win, or so they say. Tao Geoghegan Hart (INEOS Grenadiers) conquered the second success in a row at the Tour of the Alps prevailing in stage 2 (Reith im Alpbachtal-Ritten/Renon, 165,2 Km) after smashing the competition yesterday in Alpbach.
In a small-bunch sprint, the 28-year-old Brit preceded on the Ritten Arena finish line two athletes of Team Bahrain-Victorious. Aussie Jack Haig was the runner-up ahead of Colombia’s Santiago Buitrago. Team INEOS’ Pavel Sivakov claimed the fourth place in front of the first Italian rider on the finish line, Lorenzo Fortunato (Eolo-Kometa).
Geoghegan Hart consolidated his lead in the overall standings, where he has a gap of 16 seconds on Felix Gall (Ag2R Citroen) and 22 seconds on Hugh Carthy (EF Education-EasyPost).
