Team Jumbo-Visma claimed a resounding success in UAE Tour’s opening TTT, 16 km with start and finish on Al Hudayriat Island (United Arab Emirates) on Sunday, February 24th. Equipped with Aquila CV, Bianchi’s ultimate time trial machine, Jos van Emden, Tom Leezer, Primoz Roglic, Paul Mertens, Koen Bouwman, Tony Martin and Laurens De Plus completed their effort in 16:49, with a 7-second advantage on Team Sunweb and 9 seconds on Bahrain Merida. It was the third seasonal win for Team Jumbo-Visma.
First rider to cross the finish line, Team Jumbo-Visma’s Primoz Roglic wore the leader’s red jersey, also taking the Points jersey. Laurens De Plus is the best young rider.
VUELTA A ANDALUCIA, KRUIJSWIJK FINISHES 3rd
Team Jumbo Visma’s Steven Kruijswijk held his 3rd GC spot in Vuelta a Andalucia Ruta Ciclista del Sol’s fifth and final stage, 163,9 km from Otura to Alhaurín de la Torre (Spain) on Saturday, February 24th. Kruijswijk closed the Spanish race in 17:42:11, 11 seconds behind Jakob Fuglsang and 4 seconds behind Ion Izagirre.
