The Elba Island, a Human-Sized Treasure to Explore by Mountain Bike

Two major international mountain bike events, Capoliveri Legend XCO, scheduled for Saturday, April 8th, and the Capoliveri Legend Marathon, are the driving force behind the territorial promotion of an island that believes in experiential and sustainable tourism

The Elba Island offers stunning landscapes nestled between the sea and the hills, enchanting views immersed in unspoiled nature. It is a popular destination for lovers of the sea and active tourism, with over 400 km of outdoor trails ranging from the coast to the wild hinterland, enticing mountain bike enthusiasts.

It’s no coincidence that Capoliveri Legend Cup, one of the most famous Mountain Bike Marathon competitions in the world, was born on the largest island in the Tuscan Archipelago, even hosting the discipline’s World Championship in 2021. More recently, in 2021, Capoliveri Legend XCO, the international Cross-Country MTB event, was born on the Island.

Its third edition, valid as second stage of Internazionali d’Italia Series, is scheduled for Saturday, April 8th and Sunday, April 9th. Top-class XC riders will compete on the trails of the Bike Park Capoliveri, at the foot of Monte Calamita, precisely in the area of the old mining complex. The Bike Park covers over 100 km of spectacular trails.

Moreover, on the eastern part of the island, there is the Gravity Bike Park, offering seven difficulty levels that wind through mountains, woods, mines, and 360-degree views on the sea. Furthermore, the Elba Island boasts more scenic trails, easy to find and discover thanks to Elba Smart Exploring, a digital mapping project of the island that has already made the first 100 km of trails suitable for mountain biking and trekking available on Google Street View.

Family and kids can also find their treats in the Elba’s bike proposal, while e-bikes are always available for those who don’t want to miss out on these experiences, even without pro-level training. Mountain bike courses are also organized for the youngsters.

For those who want to experience the thrill of racing on the champions’ track, the day of Sunday, April 9th, of the Capoliveri Legend XCO is dedicated to youth competitions. Youngsters aged between 14 and 17 can participate in the Rookies and Cadets races, while children up to the age of 14 will have the opportunity to compete in the Mini Legend Elba Bike.

Registration for all youth competitions is free, and available to all the members of the Italian Cycling Federation.
