Stage 5 was scheduled to have 5 climbs from Foligno to Monte San Vicino over 176 kilometers. Snow was predicted for today so the race organizers cancelled the stage. But according to Nibali’s Astana coach Paolo Slongo there was no snow on the climb. The cancellation of the hilly stage has affected his plans to ride the Giro. Now they’re considering having him ride the Tour instead.
