175km was the distance between Castelfidardo and today’s finish in Senigalllia. The first half of the course was undulating, while the last 80 km of the course were flat and suited to a sprint finish.
After the start, a group of 6 riders was able to get away quickly, but under the driving force of BORA – hansgrohe in the peloton, the advantage of the leaders remained at around 3 minutes. With 15 km remaining, the gap had been reduced to just a few seconds, and on the final lap, the teams of the sprinters brought their fast men into position.
