The third stage of the Tour of the Alps from Imst to Naturns was a difficult one with plenty of opportunities for the climbers. After some disappointment yesterday, BORA – hansgrohe was looking for revenge and rode particularly aggressive right from the gun. Felix Großschartner and Matteo Fabbro attacked several times until a group of 15 riders was formed at the front of the race including both BORA – hansgrohe leaders. Even the gap was never bigger than 2:30, the group worked well together. On the penultimate climb of the day five riders were dropped from the front group where Felix and Matteo were still driving the pace. The decisive move was launched on the last climb when Moscon attacked first with Fabbro, but little later also Großschartner and Storer bridged across to the new leading group. The quartet was then able to hold off a first chasing group in a tight battle for seconds until the home straight, where Moscon took his second stage win in a close sprint ahead of Felix. Still an impressive ride from Felix and Matteo today who proved to be on track with their Giro preparations.
