The Italian equipped by Bianchi delivered a great comeback on the Canary Islands.
Alessandro Degasperi re-affirmed himself among triathlon’s overall big guns thanks to an emphatic win with a great comeback in the Ironman Lanzarote on Saturday, May 23rd. At the Canary Islands, Cus Trento’s rider equipped by Bianchi recovered eleven position in the cycling and running stints going to enjoy his deserved triumph.
Back from a four-month stop because of a shoulder injury, Degasperi was back to in early May riding his Oltre XR.2 to win the Cala Ponte Triweek in Polignano a Mare (Southern Italy). One week later he had been runner-up at Triathlon Olimpico di Caldaro, in Northern Italy.
“I chose Lanzarote because here the swimming stint does not affect the overall effort so much. Furthermore, in the cycling part … your only option is to push. I made my pace without thinking of anything else. When I saw my gap I lost morale but while riding I felt fine and I went on recovering positions: it was fantastic” Degasperi commented.
