The 23-year-old of Lampre-Merida soloes in Urdax-Dantxarinea after a long breakaway with Northwave Extreme shoes
Valerio Conti’s bravery was well rewarded in Vuelta a Espana’s stage 13 (Bilbao – Urdax-Dantxarinea 213,4 Km), on Friday September 2nd, when the Lampre-Merida rider claimed the most important win of his career after a long breakaway.
Equipped by Northwave with Extreme shoes, Conti successfully converted a breakaway attempt started in the early phases of the race, riding solo over the last 20 Km, preceding on the finish line Swiss Danilo Wyss (BMC Racing Team) and Russian Sergey Lagutin (Katusha), while Colombian Nairo Quintana (Movistar) maintained the overall lead.
The 23-year-old Italian wore Extreme, a high-performance road shoe characterized by the reflective silver, providing unprecedented visibility even in low-light situations. Extreme ensures superb power transmission with its unidirectional carbon sole, compatible with the special NW-Speedplay adaptor, leading to the lowest stack height between foot and pedal.
The upper, designed with Northwave Biomap technology to make it compatible to every foot’s shape, is realized with a special light microfiber. The integrated heel with interior directional fibermaterial provides perfect stability while pushing on pedals, keeping the foot in position with no slippings, while Northwave added a further power strap to the double SLW2 rotor, in order to provide a more adherent and precise fit even for those with slimmer feet.
