Wout Van Aert strikes again at Critérium du Dauphiné. Twenty-four hours after the TT win in Roanne, the Team Jumbo-Visma Belgian claimed another resounding success in stage 5, 201 km from Boën-sur-Lignon to Voiron (France) on Thursday, June 13th. Van Aert outsprinted Irishman Sam Bennett and Frenchman Julian Alaphinippe, finishing in 5:00:34.
Third in the opener, runner-up in the stage 3, Van Aert moves up to fifth in the GC with a 20-second gap from Adam Yates and ahead of Team Jumbo-Visma’s leader Steven Kruijswijk. The 24-year-old rider from Herentals also strengthened his lead both in Points Classification (82), ahead of Edvald Boasson Hagen and Sam Bennett, and Youth Classification ahead of Nils Politt and Bjorg Lambrecht.
