During the ongoing European CX event in Netherlands, next year’s edition took shape with six continental titles on stake in Italy’s Silvelle di Trebaseleghe
The brand-new “Silvelle ‘19” – the European Cyclo-cross Championships to be held next year in Silvelle di Trebaseleghe (a small town in Padua nearby, Veneto, Northern Italy), on November 9th-10th, 2019 – looked already in great shape at today’s presentation in ‘s-Hertogenbosch (Netherlands), during the 2018 edition of the main European cyclo-cross competition. In the Dutch “vernissage”, the Italian event came off like a huge organization aiming to capture crowds of fans even from Northern Europe, the undisputable cradle of winter offroad cycling.
The event unveiled by the organizers marks another milestone in Veneto’s small town, closely tied to cyclo-cross history. Indeed, Silvelle hosted five rounds of Superprestige from 1994 to 1999, the 2017 Italian National Championships and further cyclo-cross, now joining Lucca (2011) as the second Italian location overall hosting the European Cyclo-Cross Championships.
“Silvelle is an excellence in deep-rooted European cyclo-cross now moving to a promising development around the world – UEC (Union Européenne de Cyclisme)’s President Rocco Cattaneo explained. – The next will be a historical edition of the European Cyclo-cross Championships, because of Women’s Junior crown assigned for the first time increasing to six the number of titles on stake. This is a further reason to look forward at ‘Silvelle ‘19’ as a unique event”.
“We worked hard on this project and we must owe a lot to Veneto Region and the Municipality of Trebaseleghe for believing in the international value of the event – ‘Silvelle ‘19’ Technical Director Mauro Zamprogna argued. – Upon completion of the handover with the Dutch organizers, we’ll definitely undertake this new adventure that brings the cyclo-cross superstars to Italy once again. It’s a point of proud for us”.
The event under the aegis of UEC unfolds in two days: on Saturday November 9th, 2019 the Masters competition will open the programme, whilst six European titles will be assigned on Sunday November 10th on a 2900-meters “Flemish style” course characterized by a sticky mud. Sunday’s programme will start at 9.00 am CET with the Women Junior race, followed by Men Junior at 9.50, Women U23 at 11.00, Men U23 at 12.20, Women Elite at 1.50 pm and Men Elite at 3.20 pm.
By virtue of the running cooperation with UEC, the EBU will broadcast the event with an extensive TV international live coverage, while the spectators on site can stay very close to the riders and enjoy the show at its best with entertainment, music, food and drink.
“Silvelle ‘19” provides the opportunity to combine a holiday discovering Venice and his land. Silvelle is in a strategic position to join many fantastic cities of Veneto, such as Venice, Padua, Treviso, Asolo. In addition, the Veneto region has developed a 1.200-km cycle paths through this extraordinary territory for bike-lovers.
2019 European Cyclo-cross Championships’ website www.eurocx2019silvelle.eu is now available in three languages (English, Italian and Dutch), giving the opportunity to book the hotel accommodation and buy the entry tickets at low cost. The Italian organizers goal is to welcome 10,000 fans with a large attendance from Northern Europe. With this in mind, “Silvelle ‘19” has finalized a partnership agreement with Het Nieuwsblad, the main Flemish media, to promote the event.
