Rumors are flying that the USADA is going to strip Lance of his 7 Tour de France titles. How can they do that? Only the Tour de France can make that decision.
Armstrong’s argument is
Armstrong commented on the memories he and his teammates made. “I know who won those seven Tours, my teammates know who won those seven Tours, and everyone I competed against knows who won those seven Tours. We all raced together. For three weeks over the same roads, the same mountains an against all the weather and elements that we had to confront. There were no shortcuts, there was no special treatment. The same courses, the same rules. The toughest event in the world where the strongest man wins. Nobody can ever change that. Especially not Travis Tygart.”
There are more battles ahead.
His lawyers have said that the USADA can’t move forward with any punishment until the UCI’s independent review panel sees the evidence and settles the jurisdiction issue. “At an absolute minimum, UCI and USADA should go to CAS to resolve the jurisdiction issue before any proceedings begin, a solution offered by UCI but rejected by USADA.”
His lawyers threatened liability charges against the USADA if they make any statements.
